About This Class

The Course Project for this class is to undertake an introductory Strategic Analysis for an IT Services Company.  

I have chosen this sector as its is one where I have considerable experience.  Which company you choose to evaluate is down to you.  I have attached a list of Public IT Services Companies (from 2006) for you to use a a guide for finding a company.  I know this list is somewhat historic but I am precluded from using current project lists (which may impinge confidentiality) in classes.

The attached spreadsheet has 5 Tabs:

• Verticals by Geography
• Skills by Geography
• Skills by Vertical
• Master Matrix 
• Summary

Verticals Geography: identify which sectors the company address in which countries.  I have made some initial assumptions about sector and marketing growth.  You can colour code where the company is strong and where its position is under threat from local market conditions.

Skills Geography: This initial list of skills shows the company's offerings.  By examining the companies website you will be able to identify their product and service offerings.

Skills Verticals: Here we want to understand which products and services are offered to which sector verticals. 

The understanding of these three matrices will enable you to identify product/service/industry/geographical fit when evaluating M&A targets for your client.

Master Matrix:  This is a matrix that i devised and use when presenting the competences of a company on one sheet of paper.  You may adapt this as you need to when completing it for your target companies.

The Summary Tab brings together the key financials, Management, Shareholders and Business Partners.
